Dismissal
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
the buses will depart at 12:10 PM
Friday the buses will depart at 10:10 AM
There will be no late bus service during these days. Any bus subscriber, including

You may approximate the arrival
times at your normal stops by using the same amount of
time it takes the busses to reach you on the normal school
day when they leave at 3:35 PM.
Example: If the bus normally gets
to you at 4:00 PM meaning it normally take 25 minutes
then it would probably reach your stop at approximately
12:35 PM on the noon dismissal days.

TRANSPORTATION UPDATE - GENERAL
Our deviation from day-to-day is settling down and as a
result the daily updates will be discontinued. This is no
way means we have stopped monitoring our progress on the
path back to complete normalcy nor ceased to make changes
to achieve the goal of what we consider normalcy.
There will be periodic updates when events call for them
or we need to disseminate information.

TRANSPORTATION UPDATE - 9/26/05 - 9:30 PM
Two busses late in the morning due to power outages causing
stop light problems. One late bus was late getting back
from afternoon run due to football traffic.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE - 9/22/05 - 12:30 PM
All busses were in this morning by 7:54 which is within
the 7:55 cutoff for being late. We have resumed one of the
late runs with the normal driver as of yesterday afternoon
- the other is pending.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE - 9/21/05 - 8:30 AM
All busses were in this morning by 7:53 which is within
the 7:55 cutoff for being late. A huge thank you to the
South Baton Rouge portion of Bus 26D's route for helping
to make this happen this morning despite the wreck between
Dalrymple and Louise on the interstate. Two of the three
route drivers normally used for the late run seem to be
able to make it back now so we hope to suspend using the
substitutes for the late run beginning this afternoon for
7 of the 10 routes (2 routes x 5 days).
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE - 9/20/05 - 9:00 AM
Don't want to get too happy but all busses (including 23D
& 27D) were in by 7:52 AM except Bus 5 which we will
continue to monitor. Once again thanks to everyone for your
patience during this continuing event.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE - 9/16/05 - 5:30 PM
Very much like yesterday. Routes 23D and 27D will be adjusted
on Tuesday - all riders will be notified by phone prior
to that day about times.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE - 9/15/05 - 8:30 AM
Two steps forward and one step back. Another tough morning
but at least it was due more to accidents than traffic if
that makes any sense. Notifications to move the times up
in the mornings on 23D and 27D five minutes starting on
Tuesday, Sept. 20th will hopefully go out today. 27D has
squeezed some more time out of its route which has been
helpful. 23D is now the last bus to arrive.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE - 9/14/05 - 5:30 PM
Six out of eight on time this morning. The remaining busses
will hopefully show some improvement with the time alterations
next week. The afternoon and late runs are stabilizing but
will only improve now as traffic improves.
There has been some criticism that my response has been
slow to correct some of the problems we are facing. Please
understand that I cannot correct a system wide problem in
an urgent or disorganized fashion. We have fixed the problems
in the order of there severity as fast as I could prudently
do so. We are now using both of our experienced substitute
drivers on the late runs because the route busses could
not make it back on time to do these under the current state
of affairs - this was a priority. We began immediately making
adjustments in the morning routes all of which have been
successful so far. We hope that by week's end next week
all we be as close to normal as possible. My apologies for
any role I am having in your discomfort during these trying
times.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE - 9/13/05 - 10:30 AM
Well it was one of those mornings. Just when we think we
are getting a handle on things in regards to traffic a couple
of accidents by others (no bus involvement) in the vicinity
of school bogged everything down. On the glass half full
side - both late runs left on time yesterday.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE - 9/12/05 - 8:50 AM
Five of the eight busses were made the max time limit of
7:55 AM. However, we continue to have problems with Busses
3, 23D and 27D. We will take immediate steps to correct
Bus 3. We will further move the route time in the morning
on Busses 23D and 27D up five minutes starting Monday, September
19, 2005 - correspondence will be sent out to each rider
confirming this change.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE - 9/9/05 - 8:20 AM
All buses arrived by 8:00 AM today. Four or the eight busses
were here before the desired 7:50 AM time. Afternoon runs
seem to be improving. Late runs are now facing the heaviest
traffic problems. I am cautiously optimistic about the trend.
We will continue to evaluate the arrive times and begin
adjusting pickup times if necessary around the middle of
next week.
There have been several questions about the stop at Lee
@ Highland. About half of the parking lot has become a staging
area for FEMA related activities. I visited the site on
Tuesday night. There is a strong security presence at this
site. Officials at the site have stated that it is not necessary
to move this stop nor do they feel there are any issues
that should make our constituency feel overly uneasy. We
will continue to monitor the situation and if necessary
reevaluate its' use in the future.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE - 9/8/05 - 7:30 AM
Morning runs were most affected yesterday but the afternoon
and late runs were much better. As soon as a trend develops
we will be better able make adjustments to correct problems.
This morning we are still about 20 minutes behind on the
28D route so we will be adjusting time on the front end
to hopefully correct this problem.
AFTERNOON AND LATE BUSSES (Posted 9/7/05 - 6:45
AM)
Our first afternoon back was not a pleasant one as traffic
around town was horrendous. All of the afternoon and late
bus routes were affected with extreme delays in some cases.
We will be experimenting with alternate routes and seeking
other solutions to these problems but it may be that we
are going to have to wait it out. Please understand we are
doing everything we can to make this work.
The late busses actually left school late as the regular
drivers could not make it back to school and alternate drivers
had to be used - a huge thanks to both Andrew Wyly and Wally
Stevens for stepping in when they were sorely needed. The
late busses will depart on time on 9/7/05 as we will be
scheduling these alternate drivers in advance.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this
trying time.
BUSES WILL RUN AS SCHEDULED ON SEPTEMBER 6, 2005
Please be patient with us as we basically start
school over in the since that the traffic patterns are unknown.
It is our intention to hold to the schedule but there may
be unforeseen delays. Do not be alarmed when you see an
extra adult on the bus as we have added them as a security
measure until we are satisfied that everything is going
to be business as usual all of our routes.
We will probably be adding riders from the pool of new
students to our school and this may require some adjustments
in our bus routes at a later date. It is our intention to
minimize the inconvenience to our current constituency while
offering the kind of service you have come to expect to
our new admits.
We are getting calls about offering temporary bus service.
Information about this will be posted as it becomes available
as to whether we will be able to offer this service.
