Attention All New 9th Graders!

Monday, June 2, 2008

Get a jump on next year! Take advantage of the academic orientation this summer for new freshmen. This program will focus on reinforcing the skills incoming freshmen need to be successful in Algebra I and/or English I in the fall. While the program is not mandatory, it’s a great way to get a jump on your Episcopal career!

The sessions will be held at Episcopal, Monday-Thursday, July 21-24 and July 28-31.

Algebra I Orientation 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Foster Hall, Room 1
Topics covered will include variables, exponents, order of operations, functions, the distributive property, solving multi-step equations, ration and proportions, and problem solving. The course will be taught using traditional classroom instruction, one-on-one assistance and hands-on activities.

English I Orientation 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Perkins Hall, Room 203
The class will focus on writing as a process and include activities designed to allow students to write, edit and revise their writing, as well as assist others in the process. Attention will be given to paragraph structure, supporting with details, sentence structure and word choice.

If you would like to get a “jump-start” on your career and reserve a place, please complete the registration form and return it to the Upper School office as soon as possible. Session sizes will be limited to 15 students.
