Student, teacher win French scholarships

French conventionJunior Erica Grilletta won a scholarship to study for five weeks at Ste Anne University in Nova Scotia, and French teacher Louise Stowell won a scholarship to study for three weeks in Mons, Belgium.

The scholarships were announced at the state French convention, which was held the weekend of Jan. 27-28. Junior Adam Grenier served as state president during the convention.

In addition to her scholarship, Grilletta was elected state secretary. Freshman Ainsley Fagan was elected president of Region 3.

Freshman Annika Reinelt won first place in the spelling competition. Episcopal also won first place in the play competition. Students Hallie Anderson, Chris Beckwith, Sarah Clausen, Ben DiNapoli, Fagan, Pablo Isaza, Todd Lambert, Janey Noble, Josh Parnell, Rosemary Phillips, Nicolette Ruzicka, Brad Chauvin, Christine Davis, Kelly Hansen, Elizabeth Kenelly and Alice Kirchoff performed the play on Reconstruction and Rebirth of New Orleans.

Wills Collier, Meredith Corby, Victoria Day, Virginia Day, Sydni Hebert and Madison Pizzolato earned second place in the banner competition.
