Students earn Model UN honors

Wednesday, December 6, 2006

Three Episcopal students, Irene Huang, Tia Willis and Kate McDuff, were named in the top 20 delegates at the annual Model United Nations conference. Those students will be invited to the Conference on National Affairs, a national Model United Nations simulation.

Additionally, junior Laura Steitz was named Outstanding Delegate in the International Court Justice. Steitz and junior Breyon Dixon were both elected by their peers to be Model United Nations state board officers for 2007.

Episcopal’s Hi-Y club members attended the conference and represented the nations of Pakistan and Argentina. The students debated and wrote resolutions for international issues such as genocide, the Arab/Israeli conflict, landmines, children’s rights and Iranian nuclear development.

The Hi-Y club is sponsored by teacher Robyn Andermann.
