Members of the 2004-2005 student newspaper staff won 10 awards during the Louisiana Scholastic Press Association convention on Jan. 25.

Earning first-place awards were: Evan Scott, illustrations; Ryan Lyle, reader’s aid; Allie Blanche, background sports article and spot news sports article; and Jill Whitley, in-depth reporting. In the individual contests, students competed against high schools in all divisions in Louisiana.

Earning second-place awards were: Jill Whitley, center page spread layout; Evan Scott, column writing; Rachel Aguiar, editorial writing; Ashlie Spears, cartoon; and Ashley Mick, spot news writing.

The 2004 yearbook earned third place in the small schools division. Yearbook editors were Courtney Craig and Lauren Gauthier.
