Episcopal art teacher Russell Roper was named the Louisiana Middle
School Art Teacher of the Year by the Louisiana Art Educators’ Association
during its fall conference on Oct. 23 in Natchitoches.
The award is given based on demonstrated leadership in advocating
the importance of art in education, as well as performance in the
classroom.
Mr. Roper is the coordinator for next year’s fall LAEA conference,
which will be held in Baton Rouge, and has served as president
of the organization.
LAEA is the state chapter of the National Art Education Association.
