Twenty-eight members of Episcopal’s class of 2004 and 14
students in the class of 2005 have been named AP Scholars by the
College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on
the college-level Advanced Placement Examinations, including two
National Scholars.
Bill Burke and Adam Wyatt, both class of 2004,
earned the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average grade
of 4 or higher on
a 5-point scale on all AP exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher
on eight or more of those exams.
Fourteen students qualified for
the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade
of 3.5 on all AP Exams taken,
and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of those exams. Those
students are Burke, Wyatt, Catherine Boyle, Courtney Craig, Stephanie
Leu, Jon Jon Lo, Claire McMurrian, Drew Pace, Meredith Patrick,
Kade Roybal, Allyson Seger and Laura Wasson, class of 2004, and
Sara Paccamonti and Alex Whelan, class of 2005.
Ten students qualified
for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade
of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades
of 3 or higher on four or more of those exams. Those students are
Burton Garner, John Grinton, Phuong Le, Brandon Nissing, Chris
Paul, Emily Reed and Andrew Uffman, class of 2004, and Vanessa
Begat, Elizabeth Stewart and Bret Wilson, class of 2005.
Eighteen
students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three
or more AP Exams, with grades of 3 or higher. Charley Austin,
James Gilley, Alyce Howe, Sarah Landry, Kirk Langheinz, Sarah Mack,
Edward Sellers, Colin Toney and Danielle Zuckerman, class of 2004,
and Rachel Aguiar, Lauren Breeland, Jessica Ferreyra, Ashley Mick,
Coleman Nalley, Andre Prudhomme, Lauren Stanat, Michael White and
Kristen Williams, class of 2005.
AP Examinations, which students
take in May after completing challenging college-level courses
at their high school, are graded on a 5-point
scale (5 is the highest). Most of the nation’s colleges and
universities award credit, advanced placement, or both for grades
of 3 or higher.
