Welcome to Ms. Roy's Middle School Latin Classes

ROMA, the 6th and 7th Grade Latin Club, enjoy their Saturnalia banquet.

The 6th and 7th grade Latin curricula work in conjunction with each other. 6th graders spend the year learning about a Roman family living in Pompeii in the year of the famous 79 A.D. eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Only a couple of family members survive, and 7th graders focus their learning on the survivors who now live in ancient Britain and Egypt. Students have the opportunity to join the 6th and 7th grade Latin club, called ROMA, or Romans of the Modern Age.

8th graders focus on a 1st century B.C. family living in southern Italy. The main character is their adolescent son, Quintus. During his lifetime, he attends school in the cities of Rome and Athens, witnesses the assassination of Julius Caesar, joins the army, meets the first emperor of Rome, and becomes the famous Roman poet Horace. 8th graders have the opportunity to join the upper school Latin club, called JCL, or the Junior Classical League.
