The Episcopal Powerlifting team is currently in its 17th year of existence. The powerlifting team is open to any boy or girl in grades 8 – 12 who are deemed physically capable for the sport.

Powerlifting meets are held during the year from early December until the first weekend in March. One of the primary meets held during the season is the East Regional Powerlifting Championship, which serves as a qualifying meet for the annual LHSPLA Championship Meet.  The annual state meet is held on the first weekend in March. The 2008 East Regional will be held in late January at Brusly High School in Brusly, La. The 2008 LHSPLA State Meet will be held at a host site in the Southeren part of the state.

Boys compete in any one of 11 weight classes that range from 114 lbs. and below to the Superheavyweight class (275 lbs. and above). Girls also compete in 11 weight classes that range from 97 lbs. and below to 220 lbs. and above. The three lifts performed in powerlifting competitions are the Squat, Bench Press, and the Deadlift. The total weight of the best lift in each exercise determines the winner in each weight class.
