I. ORGANIZATION AND PURPOSE

A. The organization shall be known as the Episcopal High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

B. The purpose of the organization is to bring proper recognition to noteworthy athletes, coaches, and contributors for their accomplishments and contributions to the Episcopal High School athletic program.

C. The Episcopal High School Athletic Hall of Fame shall conduct some sort of induction ceremony to present an award to those elected to the Hall of Fame.

D. To honor each inductee, the Episcopal High School Athletic Hall of Fame shall present a plaque that will be displayed in a prominent location at Episcopal High School.


II. HALL OF FAME BOARD OF DIRECTORS

A. The Episcopal High School Athletic Hall of Fame will consist of five appointed board members and one permanent member. The Athletic Director will be a permanent non-voting member and will appoint the 5 remaining positions.

B. The 2006-07 members are:

  1. Myra Mansur, Athletic Director
  2. Chris Beckman
  3. Jack Coco
  4. Renee Price
  5. Randy Richard
  6. Sherry Swanner

C. The Athletic Director appoints board members every three years. Any member may be re-appointed to consecutive years. Faculty, coaching staff, and/or alumni may represent the members.


III. ELIGIBILITY CRITTERIA FOR THE HALL OF FAME*

A. A person will be considered eligible for nomination to the Episcopal High School Athletic Hall of Fame if at the time of nomination he/she has fulfilled one of the following criteria:
*While serving on the Hall of Fame Board one may not be considered for induction to the Hall of Fame.

1. Athlete
The individual lettered in a varsity sport at Episcopal High School and graduated from Episcopal. The time period since he/she graduated will be at least five years.

2. Alumni
The individual has made an outstanding contribution or offered extraordinary service to Episcopal High School athletics while as a student or since leaving the institution. The time period since he/she graduated will be at least five years.

3. Other
The individual did not attend Episcopal High School but has made significant contributions to Episcopal High School athletics and has not been employed by the institution for a period of at least five years. This category may include but is not limited to: administrators, coaches, faculty, and trainers.

4. Posthumous
Deceased candidates shall be given equal consideration. (The waiting period may be waived.)


IV. PROCEDURE FOR ELECTION TO THE EPISCOPAL HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME

A. Nominations

1. Anyone associated, as stated in Part III of the By-Laws, with Episcopal High School may nominate a candidate. No one person may submit more than one nomination.

2. An Episcopal High School Athletic Hall of Fame Nomination Application must be submitted in person, by mail, or via Internet to the Hall of Fame Chairman for the nominee to be considered. Nomination applications must be received by the fifteenth day of April to be eligible for induction the following school year.

3. All nominees will be notified of their nomination by letter and asked to accept or reject their nomination by the first day of May. If a response is not received the nominee will be removed from the pool of candidates.

4. All candidates remaining in the pool will be voted on by the H.O.F. Board. Any candidates not receiving induction will remain in the pool of candidates for a period of two years after the original nomination. He/She may be re-nominated as defined in the above procedures if not inducted the third year.

B. Voters

1. To be eligible to vote, members of the H.O.F. Board must have attended one half of the scheduled meetings for the Hall of Fame.

C. Voting Process for Induction

1. The H.O.F. Board will read and review the nominating materials and vote for consideration of induction into the Episcopal High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

2. Voting will be conducted according to a point system i.e.:

  • First Choice = 10 Points
  • Second Choice = 7 Points
  • Third Choice = 4 Points
  • Fourth Choice = 2 Points
  • Fifth Choice = 1 Point

3. All voting will be completed by the last day of August.

4. The winner will be announced at the Homecoming Football game and inducted at the Fall Awards Banquet.


V. BY – LAWS REVISIONS

A. Amendments to the By – Laws may be presented, in writing, at any meeting to the Episcopal High School Athletic Hall of Fame Board.

B. After the Episcopal High School Athletic Hall of Fame Board discuses the issue presented, a vote will take place. Two thirds of the board must be in attendance at the meeting for the vote to take place. Majority will rule on the issue.
